MMG ADVERTISING
(2018-2020)

My two years at Mustang Media Group (MMG) as both an advertising designer and manager has enriched me with applied experience in college media journalism, sales, marketing, business, and more. Through every project at hand, I learned how to effectively design campaigns and products for clients ranging from local businesses and campus organizations, to large corporations.

My designs were outputted weekly in regular edition newspapers, quarterly special edition magazines, campus advertisements, digitally on web and social media platforms, as well as internal branding and resources. Working closely with advertising representatives, editorial managers, marketing teams, copywriters, advisors and more, I was collaborating and communicating daily to produce print and digital journalism projects that gone on to win numerous awards from multiple different journalism and design organizations such as:

  • College Media Business and Advertising Managers (CMBAM) Convention

  • Associated Collegiate Press (ACP) Awards

  • California College Media Association (CCMA) Awards

  • College Media Association (CMA) Apple Awards

As Advertising Design Manager I was privileged to lead and manage my own design team of 4 designers that I recruited, onboarded, and advised throughout the year. I was able to implement many continuous improvement alterations to the workflow and I worked hard to ensure the future of the design program was fulfilling its potential.

I was honored with the title of ‘Designer of The Year’ at the College Media and Advertising Managers (CMBAM) Convention in February of 2020 for my work as Advertising Design Manager. This win was backed with a comprehensive portfolio and recommendation letters and recognizes me as the best college media designer in the nation for that year.

My cumulative work with my team was recognized with the title of, Best College Media Design Program’ at CMBAM as well.

ADVENTURE AWAITS 2019

As MMG progressed, multiple publication refreshes were occurring and with every new unexpected obstacle, I was ready to see how I can take the new product to its fullest potential. With a theme heavy edition idea, I had to reinvigorate the ‘Healthy Living’ edition with something that drove the same idea home, but in a new and contemporary way. This edition was able to intrigue clients and readers with it’s focused theme and how it was reflected throughout the edition. This was able for us to double our revenue from the last year and win multiple awards at CMBAM for sales strategy.

SLO LIVING 2020

As a revamp of the SLO Life edition, I constructed a collage design for the cover and promotional materials that conveyed the housing and food guide in a much more cohesive, fun, and focused way than the year prior. This design was able to sell the product to housing clients much more effectively and was a huge part of the successful launch and execution of that year’s annual housing fair.

SLO LIFE 2019

Being tasked the first annual edition of MMG’s housing and dining fair guide, I knew I wanted to set the precedent of this new edition high. It was a tricky journey to the finish, trying to combine aspects of housing and dining purposefully was truly a challenge that I feel, I was able to conquer. This edition also introduced a new event that was able to become a success with the multimedia deliverables to promote the event such as the various standup folding signs and punch cards. All product photography and layout designs were made from scratch.
